Turkey appoints ambassador to Israel after 6 years of silence

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan officially named Kemal Oakham as the ambassador to Israel.

Erdogan said: «We are appointing our Prime Minister’s [Binali Yildirim] foreign affairs adviser Mr. Kemal Okem as ambassador [to Israel]».

Exactly the appointment of ambassadors is the last stage of the resumption of the diplomatic relations between Tel Aviv and Ankara, ceased after the Israeli attack in 2010 on a Turkish ship carrying humanitarian aid bound for Palestine. As a result, nine Turkish citizens were killed.

The appointed Israeli ambassador to Turkey was also improved. He is Ayton Hae, the former First Secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Ankara.

However, the peace agreement was signed, according to which Israel paid compensation for the deaths of Turkish citizens.
