General Joseph Dunford in Turkey
The U.S. chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford has arrived at Incirlik air base in southern Turkey, where he met with US forces located there, and then with his Turkish counterpart, Chief of General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces Hulusi Akar.
Despite the fact that information about the content of negotiations is not covered, most likely, the situation in Syria, which continues to remain tense because of the unclear position of Turkey, was discussed.
During the last Dunford’s visit to Turkey, being held on November 6 th, the plan to attack Raqqa had been improved, but later was revised after the Kremlin's intervention. At this time, the situation remains ambiguous. After the talks between Dunford and Akar, which maintains close ties with Russian counterpart Valery Gerasimov, Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim is going to pay a visit to Moscow. He will meet with Vladimir Putin.
