BRI Summit: A platform to Shape future of global Economy, Peace and Stability

2nd BRI Summit is going to be held on 27-29 April 2019 in Beijing. This time the summit is even more important, by its participation and depth of the issues under discussion. It is expected, around 100 leaders from all over the world will attend, and many professionals, experts, intellectuals and students - future leaders will attend the event. Preparations are at peak, as it will be a mega diplomatic event in Beijing and the Chinese Government gives it very high importance.

BRI was launched in September 2013, in Kazakhstan by Chinese President Xi Jin Ping. Many countries appreciated this initiative and joined it immediately, few countries took time to understand the rationale of BRI and then recognized and joined it. Few countries are still studying it and have not decided yet. But there exist few countries, who opposes it, I am not sure, whether they have understood the rationale of BRI or just out of jealousy or enmity, they resist BRI. We should be honest enough and brave enough to acknowledge that there exists resistance or opposition to BRI too.

More than 100 nations and International Organizations have recognized and appreciated. In the beginning, the friendly nations and neighboring countries joined it but later on its scope was widened and many nations from far away have also joined it. The recent example is Italy. It will have a long-lasting impact on the EU. As the EU is also facing severe challenges, like Brexit, dive among rich and poor states, etc. Some of the EU member countries are almost collapsed economically and could not find any relief from the EU. Ultimately, they need to knock the doors of nations outside the EU for their rescue.

Since inception, BRI has delivered a lot, in term of connectivity, economic activities, trade, and cultural harmony and peace. A network of motorways, railway tracks, airports, sea-ports, etc is a major contributor of connectivity among the BRI states, where China has heavily invested. Trade and economic activities have been enhanced among BRI states, in fact, BRI has contributed to the ailing global economy. China alone contributes one third to the global economy. Chinese soft power and diplomacy have brought many nations closer to each other. China’s peaceful rise has been cited as a role model for the rest of the world.

It is expected that during the upcoming Summit, China may announce something even more interesting, as China has gained very good experience of BRI during the last 6 years. Chinese ancient wisdom is to learn and implement. If something has gone wrong, China may rectify in the future. Based on Chinese experience, it has gained more confidence and courage and may move in a much bigger way in the days to come.

At least half of the world is supporting China, while, the rest of the major part of the nations are still, trying to understand China and may make their mind soon. Only a few are against and opposing BRI, who are facing isolation. In fact, China is the only nation, who possess such big scale investment capacity and know-how. No other country in the world can compete in China or have enough resources to invest in other countries. Even, China is willing to invest in the least developed countries, from where the other countries avoid investing with the fear of non-recovery.

I believe, 2nd BRI Summit is a platform, which should be attended by all nations. Those who support BRI may explore ways and means, to be more beneficiary. Those who have not joined BRI yet, will explore to understand BRI in its true spirit and may join in the near future. Those who oppose it, are also welcome to attend the Summit, where they can clarify their reservations. If they have stronger rational or logic, let them share with the rest of the world and try to convince. If they have strong logic or justification for opposing BRI, may share with the rest of world. However, BRI Summit will be an event, where friends will celebrate and enjoy but enemies will feel jealous and could not curtail it.

Wish the success of BRI, for the best interest of humanity, and global peace and security. It is a message of prosperity for everyone, either someone likes it or resists it, everyone will be beneficiary of its fruits.
